This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan

Image (5)-1

Once in a while, you come across a book that leaves you with a deep sense of satisfaction after turning the last page. A story that hits different, one you’ll find yourself thinking about often in the days to come. This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan is that kind of book for me.

This is a story of a woman’s strength and resilience, a testament to a mother’s unconditional love. It’s Soledad’s story, but it’s also the story of so many women out there. I should know, as someone raised by a single mother, this story felt incredibly personal.

The narrative centers around Soledad’s healing journey, pacing it so beautifully that nothing ever feels rushed. As always, Kennedy Ryan brings her characters to life with such care and depth. I especially love how she consistently writes strong, empowered women while allowing them to fully embrace their vulnerabilities. That ending left me wanting more! I would have loved to see even more of Soledad and Judah’s blended family.

Kennedy Ryan never fails to deliver deeply moving and beautifully written stories, and This Could Be Us is no exception.

BOOK BLURB:

Soledad Barnes has her life all planned out. She plans everything. She designs everything. She fixes everything. But none of her varied talents can save her when catastrophe strikes, and the life she built with the man who was supposed to be her forever, goes poof in a cloud of betrayal and disillusion. But there is no time to pout or sulk, or even grieve the life she lost. She's too busy keeping a roof over her daughters' heads and food on the table. And in the process of saving them all, Soledad rediscovers herself. From the ashes of a life burned to the ground, something bold and new can rise. But then an unlikely man enters the picture - the forbidden one, the one she shouldn't want but can't seem to resist. She's lost it all before and refuses to repeat her mistakes. Can she trust him? Can she trust herself? After all she's lost . . . and found . . . can she be brave enough to make room for what could be?
