Four days ago, I posted a review of The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan and shared how it has been my top romance book for the past four years. Today, I finished rereading the sequel, The Rebel King, which concludes Lennix and Maximβs story, and Iβm so excited to share my thoughts about it.
In The Kingmaker, we were introduced to Lennix and Maxim, whose paths cross in a serendipitous first meeting and how they found each other again years later. I donβt want to spoil anything, but the book ends on a cliffhanger that left me on the edge of my seat and sent my emotions spiraling when I first read it. Meanwhile, The Rebel King continues their story as Lennix and Maxim navigate their new relationship while striving to make their dreams of changing the world a reality. This book strikes the perfect balance between suspense, action, and an incredible romance. I have to warn you, thoughβthere are unexpected plot twists. One broke my heart and brought me to tears, and the otherβ¦ well, youβll have to discover it for yourself.
I canβt say this enough: I love Lennix and Maxim, truly. The love they share is unconditional and selfless. What I adore most about their relationship is how they support each otherβs dreams without holding one another back. They inspire a love that listens, understands, and bridges differences without judgment. They understand each otherβs pain and show a love that empowers growth. I used to believe that a love like this only existed in romance books, but Iβve been proven wrong. I hope everyone experiences a love so profound that it consumes your entire being while still allowing you to remain true to yourself.
Rereading Lennix and Maximβs story is always a joy, and I know Iβll think of them often until the next time I open their book once again.
Ambition. Revenge. Love.
Raised to resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option.
Though surrender is what Maxim Cade demanded of my body and heart, I had other plans. We were fast-burning fascination and combustible chemistry, but the man I trusted with everything was a trickster. A thief who stole my love. If what we had was a lie, why did it feel so real? The man I swore to hate will have it all, and wants me at his side. But power is a game, and weβre the pawns and players.
Facing insurmountable odds, will we win the world, or will we lose it all?
