What a fantastic start to the series! The world of Caraval is indeed as magical and enchanting as I hoped it would be. I had such a great time reading it. I absolutely loved the elements of illusion, mystery, and suspense. The mystique surrounding Legendβs character had me constantly guessing whoβs who, and it kept me thoroughly engrossed in the plot from start to finish.
Iβm so curious to see how the story unfolds, what role Legend will play in the next two books, and how Julian and Scarlettβs relationship will develop. Looking forward to continue with the rest of the trilogy!
On another note, Caraval happens to be my 60th book of the year, which means Iβve officially hit my 2025 reading goal yay! π₯³ I usually surpass my goal each year, but I like to start with a target of 60 because five books a month feels like a reasonable pace for me. I try not to put too much pressure on myself with a bigger number π But now that Iβve reached it halfway through the year, Iβm hoping to make it to 100 books by the end of 2025 π€
Welcome to Caraval, where nothing is quite what it seems...
Scarlett has never left the tiny isle of Trisda, pining from afar for the wonder of Caraval, a once-a-year week-long performance where the audience participates in the show. Caraval is Magic. Mystery. Adventure. And for Scarlett and her beloved sister Tella it represents freedom and an escape from their ruthless, abusive father.
When the sisters' long-awaited invitations to Caraval finally arrive, it seems their dreams have come true. But no sooner have they arrived than Tella vanishes, kidnapped by the show's mastermind organiser, Legend. Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But nonetheless she quickly becomes enmeshed in a dangerous game of love, magic and heartbreak. And real or not, she must find Tella before the game is over, and her sister disappears forever.
