Bring Down The Stars and Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott

Sharing my recent read: Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott, a captivating duology that delves into a complex love triangle between Weston, his best friend Connor, and Autumn, the woman who captures both their hearts. I went into these books blind, and I highly recommend doing the same to fully feel every raw, unfiltered emotion as the story unfolds. I was conflicted on how to rate these two books because, while Emma Scott’s writing is undeniably beautiful, the romance is anything but perfect — it’s messy, heart-wrenching, and at times frustrating. But isn’t that what love often is? It’s not always a fairytale with a happily ever after. Sometimes, it’s painful, complicated, and imperfect, yet just as moving and beautiful as the other kind.

Here's a short summary of the plot: Weston is a talented but emotionally scarred poet, while Connor is charismatic and kind, with a more uninhibited, happy-go-lucky persona. Both men meet Autumn in college, and while Connor quickly starts dating her, it’s Weston who truly understands and connects with her on a deeper level, though he keeps his feelings hidden out of loyalty to his friend. As the story progresses, a tragic event changes all their lives, leading to heartbreak, healing, and self-discovery.
